Tutorials

RadarCon09 will again feature a comprehensive set of optional tutorials in its Tutorials Program.

Presented by invited experts and world-renowned professionals, these tutorials explore radar and user topics, from science to systems, ranging from the introductory level to sophisticated, state-of-the-art applications.

Eighteen courses will be offered in two sessions of nine parallel lectures each, taking place before and after the main conference sessions and activities, on Monday, May 4 and Friday, May 8, 2009. Tutorials can be selected at the time of registration starting on December 15.  Handouts will ensure that participants have reference material after the sessions.

This year’s tutorial offerings include:

  • Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry, presented by Dr. Richard Bamler
  • Radar Polarimetry: from Science to Systems, presented by Dr. Shane Cloude
  • Foliage Penetration Radars, presented by Dr. Mark Davis
  • Advances in Bistatic Radar, presented by Dr. Hugh Griffiths and Mr. Nick Willis
  • Introduction to STAP and Knowledge-Aided Processing, by Dr. Joe Guerci
  • Radar Trade-Offs, Performance-Driven Specifications, and “Back-of-the-Envelope” Performance Estimation, presented by Mr. Tom Jeffrey
  • Hybrid Computational/Analytical Techniques for Evaluation of Polarimetric Radar Response of Distributed Targets, by Prof. Kamal Sarabandi
  • Radar Remote Sensing for Earth and Planetary Sciences, presented by Dr. Jakob J. van Zyl
  • Electronic Scanned Array (ESA) Design, presented by Mr. John Williams
  • MIMO Radar: A Sensing Emerging Technology, Dr. Rick S. Blum, Dr. Alexander M. Haimovich, and Dr. Jian Li
  • Phased-Arrays and Radars: Basics, Past Accomplishments Amazing Breakthroughs and Future Trends, Dr. Eli Brookner
  • Understanding and Interpretation of High Resolution SAR Images, presented by Dr. Mihai Datcu
