Call for Papers

call for papers

Technical Chair, Dr. Eastwood Im, and Technical Co-Chair, Dr. Trung Nguyen, invite you to participate in RadarCon09's exploration of Radar: From Science to Systems by submitting one or more papers in the following topical areas:

Science Applications
The nexus of radar measurements and Earth and planetary science, including earthquakes, volcanology, clouds, precipitation, severe storms, land and ocean topography, ocean eddies and salinity, glaciology, sea ice, snow cover, soil moisture, rainfall, ground water, vegetation, biomass, and subsurface process studies.

Radar Systems
Advanced concepts and implementations in terrestrial, shipborne, airborne, ground-based and spaceborne radar, imaging radar, high resolution SAR, air traffic control, automotive and weather radar, multifunction airborne tactical and surveillance technology, radar control and scheduling, radar system reliability, and counter-terrorism, counterdrug and law enforcement applications.

Radar Signal & Data Processing
Innovative techniques for digital beamforming, array processing, STAP, superresolution, detection and estimation techniques, target discrimination/classification/ID/recognition, tracking, data association, sensor fusion, sidelobe control, false alarm mitigation, multipath processing, and improved electronic protection (EP) techniques.

Component & Subsystem Development
State-of-the-art signal processing components, materials (including chiral, meta-materials, and others), manufacturing techniques and packaging, distributed processing architectures, COTS processors and commercial components, SiC and GaN transistors, wideband high dynamic range A/D converters, DDS waveform generators and modulators, efficient low-cost T/R modules, and low cost digital receivers.

Antenna Technology
Creative and modern multibeam antenna architectures, conformal arrays, subarraying techniques, beam forming technology, optical manifolding, low sidelobe antenna designs, ultrawideband, wideband/multifrequency, and polarization-diverse antenna designs.

Emerging Technologies
Emerging techniques including bistatic radar, multistatic radar and radar networking, polarimetric radar, foliage penetrating radar, ultrawideband radar, interferometric SAR, MEMS applications, fiber optic remoting and photonics, ground penetrating radar, and laser radar.

Phenomenology
Radar environmental and target issues including propagation and scattering phenomenology, science remote sensing, target and clutter measurement and modeling, chaff behavior and multipath, terrain and building scattered interference, and spatial and temporal scattering statistics.

Session Formats

RadarCon09’s Technical Program will include:

Technical Oral Sessions:  Plenary session with keynote speaker and invited overview presentations.  Focused sessions including invited and accepted papers.

Technical Poster Sessions:  Focused sessions with informal stand-up presentations.  Question-and-answer interaction with conference attendees.

Student Sessions:  Poster session similar to technical poster sessions.  Best student paper award and opportunity for presentation. See Student Programs for information on separate Student Design Competition opportunity.
